John Hayward and the new, searchable lost & found regist

Recommended Posts

I have just been having a chat with John Hayward at the National Theft Register.

There is a new and improved SEARCHABLE lost and found register to be found here:

http://www.parrotmag.com/lost-and-found-register

If a bird is reported lost or found, a small admin charge of £10 is made to any member of the public not already a member of a recognised parrot society - and I don't mean just the PSUK.

This will cover the cost of phone calls, etc., publishing the details on the parrot mag website and providing counselling to those unfortunate enough to have lost their birds.

It also covers the cost of a weekly circular which goes to Police nationally, Parrot Society and Parrots website, Insurers, DoE and other specialist bird societies.

John also deals with stolen birds and, quite reasonably, for help in tracking these down, charges are made for expenses, etc.

If anyone reports a bird lost or found on parrot-link, I (or one of my fellow mods, in my absence) will notify John as a matter of course and he records the details on his register.

According to John, we are their biggest contributors of information regarding lost and found birds!

Just to confirm that the £10 charge I mentioned originally is a one-off charge to register and circulate the lost bird. Included in this charge is a 24 hour service re advice re any sightings reported and further assistance.
