Walnuts in shells - white powder inside?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I've just bought some xmas nuts for Diesel and I to share, I've opened a couple and they have a white powder inside. Does anyone have any idea what the powder could be?

Obviously I will NOT be feeding any to Diesel JUST IN CASE!

Best to buy nuts that have been taken out of their shells, safe for the birds, less mess and less hassle as pften parrots find nuts in shells hard to open, they get fed up and just drop them. You are paying for the weight of the shell as well, nuts without shells are better value.

hello, i love it when the nuts in shells are easy to buy, harry loves them, i crack open the walnuts for him, and he loves to eat the nut, then play with the shell, i buy organic ones from tesco, and i have never seen a white powder inside, so i would say DONT give them to diesel, just in case.

Thanks for the replys, I'm going to take them back and swap them for some out of their shell, It's just not worth the risk! I thought giving them half cracked would offer him some challenge! I'l have to think again!
