Oh my goodness this egg scam is big business!

 I feel such a fool, I contacted several people regarding eggs, we have an umbrella cockatoo and a ducorps cockatoo, the umbrella we bought as a hand reared baby who is now 5yrs, and the ducorps is from a friend of ours who's work comitments changed & felt she didnt have as much time for him as she used too.

My husband has always wanted a Scarlet Macaw, so I started looking for a young baby scarlet, and that when I saw the EGG Add's, 1st I thought this would be great as we had hatched chicken (slightly different I know) but I thought it would be great to hatch our own Parrot and build a bond right from the start.

Some of the add's offered so much info, you couldnt help belive them!!.

It was only whenI asked to collect the eggs, (thank goodness I hadn't parted with any money) and loads of excusess came back that I realised that it was ALL a big scam. WHAT A FOOL I KNOW FEEL!!!

I wish I had looked on here 1st, I feel so disapointed as I know my husband would have loved to hatch his own scarlet.

Thank you forum :)

i used to look at that freead site daily those scam adverts appear every day and at least half a dozen ads, often one after the other, all obvious scams they seem to have no checks on the site at all. I just stopped using the site, do they not realise it must put others off too.

yes i agree the site if full of scams

how do they get away with it?

its a game now for me and my son...spot the scam lol

really they should at least do a bit of reseach first surely...at least get the breed right?

maybe it would sound/look better lol...

just feel sorry for the poor people who take it as it is,and get ripped off

From our point of view we dont WANT them to look better or sound better! That would just make for more rescues in the long run when people realise they have the wrong bird, OR more people being parted with their money! At least them being totally thick about birds, alerts people who are to the fact it's a scam!

Moved by moderator to this sticky thread.

came across this today

WANTED 4 week old baby parakeet or parrots for hand rearing. wil pay going rate. can collect

usually when i see these kinds of adds, the buyer tends to try and cover there backs law wise by asking for them free..no money involved

as under Pet Trade act of 1952

it says that it is illegal to SELL an unweaned animal.

QUOTE SELL?

(if im right on this?)

the site thats its off is down at the moment, but when i can get back on, it will be reported, and my relevent contacts informed ect...

what chance do we have trying to stamp the sale of unweaned babys when people are advertising like this?

   :?:

trying to mail the advertiser now...

as im interested in seeing what the going rate is for a say.... a 4 week old grey ect...

they must be cheap i guess, for the advertiser to make a profit,

as i can imagine it takes load of time/cost and hard work to handrear a baby?

(never had baby parrots)
