  1. Thanks Alison and BuddhaBelly! I'll be in touch!
  2. We have recently moved to the area and we will be looking for a good bird sitter that we can trust. We would gladly return the favour. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks! It's nice that I can feed them in a few different ways. I'll see what my birds like best.
  4. I bought some groats from Rob Harvey and there is no information on the package. I don't know if I am supposed to soak them, cook them, or feed them to the birds dry? Does anyone know?
  5. I use vinegar mixed with water. It stinks; but it's safe for the birds. I put my solution in a spray bottle to make it easy to use. It kills germs almost as good as dettol. It works well on dried poop too. I spray it and leave it for about 5 minutes and then it just wipes off. Sometimes, I make a solution of lemon juice and water. It smells nicer than the vinegar, so I tend to use that if I am having company over after I clean.
  6. Ask your vet about giving him milk thistle. It's safe for birds and it helps to cleanse the liver. I personally know quite a few people who have used milk thistle or aloe detox (which has milk thistle in it) with sick birds and it's been a miracle worker. Ask your vet about it. I don't know dosages or anything like that; but I can ask around if I need to. You can read about milk thistle and aloe detox here: http://www.avianweb.com/liverdisease.html
  7. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sweet Indie. Please keep us updated.
  8. If your vet isn't concerned about it, then maybe your guy just dances to the beat of a different drum. In any case, he sure is cute. What's his name?
  9. Halo

    Vet near Erith

I looked it up and it's about 15 miles away. That's not too bad. Thanks! I'll check the other 2 listed as well. I'm a bit stressed about finding a good vet. We have a special needs conure that requires regular vet visits.
  10. I'm new to the forum; but I wanted to express my heartfelt sympathy. I'm so sorry for your loss. There is nothing worse in this world than losing one of our babies.
  11. My GCC (Halo) does lots of head bobbing; but it's an up and down movement. She never does the side to side thing. Actually, she does something like that in side her cage when she is strumming on her cage bars but it's more of a rhythmic movement. When Halo does that, it's a territorial thing. I'm not sure about why your guy is doing it. When Halo does her head bobbing, it's a happy sign. She's excited to see me. Maybe that is what your GCC is doing; but just in his own way. The side to side movement your guy is doing does seem a little twitchy. Does he have any problems with balance or any other issues? Here is Halo's head bobbing that she does when she is excited: http://www.youtube.com/user/Skyla100#p/u/26/54DwExDdPHg
  12. Cayenne pepper works very well and it doesn't cause a problem if they ingest it.

I will be moving near this area too. Are these the only 2 avian vets around?
  14. Zazu is beautiful! Welcome to the forum.
