  1. yes there are some in this country in private collections, i'm extremely suprised you dont know mike, unless your response is deliberate.
  2. hiya alan i have 5 chicks at the mo with one due in the next couple of days, three oldest are already spoken for, 2 are solomans and the last you can take if its a male, all unrelated to yours esp the solomans lol the mother of yours is currently in the house in a move to try and get her to stop laying eggs, ive seperated the pair , feels a bit cruel but she just will not stop laying regardless of what i do, im hoping the change of environment will stop egg production and maybe give her 4/5 months as a break, i've even given her other chicks to rear last year but she will lay regardless. so im hoping this will work, its definatley not healthy for her.
  3. excellent news alan, well done, its also interesting that your female was hand reared and so was her mother.
  4. hi alemap yes they have done extremely well considering the pairs are still relativeley young and they were on brought into la vera in november 06, the chick is doing well and is 15 days old today. loro park now have 2 pairs. there are now 43 birds assigned to the stud book and yes only alwabra bred 1 last year, certainly in alwabra's case they are proving exxtremely difficult to breed, we also have 3 here in the uk which are now here to stay. there is still beleived to be around 30 lears illegally kept in switzerland as well as spix macaws, hopefully matthias at loro park will continue to do well as he has done with so many other species. p.s i have pictures of the uk lears on my link. sab
