  1. Hi guys, geeze its been ages! Been so busy Hope your all well. Basically Friday night @11pm! Two ladies and my neighbour knocked my door hubby was Inand answered. They had found a conure outside after the payed skittles in a cons club. So Saturday morning called all the vets that were open, contacted John Hayward and parrot alert, police, pet shops, searched the area found. And this morning called the rest of the vets as they were closed over weekend! He is such a lovely bird, so friendly but very nippy! I must admit I. Getting attached and nervous the owners will collect him back. I've called him Mikey. His diet isn't too great eating mainly sunflower seed bit I've been giving him fruit he loves the apple and pear. He has been out step up when he comes out his cage but nippy if I put my hands in cage ( understandably) he sits on my shoulder and nuzzles into my ear he is so sweet. I say he of course I have no idea on sex.
  2. Oh net! I am sorry to hear! Rubytoo gave me your details so tried to spread the word! no joy. sorry I really really hope you have them home soon!! at least the weather is good for them right? that must be a good thing!! I would help best I could if I was near you. My heart is breaking for you! and of course understand your anger too completely. I would be the same (wouldn't every passionate bird lover!!??). Surely a holiday home should hold some kind of insurance to cover loss of birds ( especially as it was their fault.) not that the money would make you feel any better in no way shape or form :( but it could help with the costs of looking! Also being a 'business' I don't believe they should be running their mouths on a forum Personally I think its unprofessional.... reminds me of the ladies from Newport LOL!!!! You have Nets number surely?? call net and deal with it the way a professional business should deal with a problem instead of embarrassing your business name.
  3. Just to bring this up again, have a crimson bellied conure with a sore wing, how do I get hold of this product and how do I use it?
  4. They do have red mutation greys out there.... African Reds they should be re named! LOL!!! but some can have more red feathering.
  5. Thanks Guys <3 Rubes its about 2ft x 2.5ftx 2ft.... its pretty awesome!!! taken a few more pictures also! check out me FB page x x https://www.facebook.com/BakewellsBirdsParrotletsWales?ref=hl Ive taken a lot more in the box! and also pictures of my parrotlet flock
  6. caique's are lovely birds, Grey's can also be loud! have you considered Pyrrhura conures (such as Crimson bellied, painted, black capped etc etc) they are a lot quieter than their Aratinga cousins. Also Parakeets such as plumhead parakeets are very quiet (I find ) and the males have a stunning plum head
  7. Kak's are pretty hardy birds a trip to the vets won't be as bad as you think. Touch wood I have never had to take any of mine. I would suggest book her in, mainly for a check over. 15 years is pretty good for a kak so they wouldn't undergo her any treatment. My Chameleon is 8 ( they average 5-8 and a few months back he had a lump... thankfully not Cancer or anything serious but Because of Stevies age they wouldn't of operated. but the lump was just a skin growth (THANK GOD!!) he is still going strong! the vets were really impressed with his health overall. But if he has lost sight in one eye.. he could be loosing it in the other? and the poor things too scared to fly. Its worth a check over as if he is going blind in the other eye you will need to accommodate the needs of s sight impaired parakeet.
  8. Sorry to hear its not been too great for you! like most have said the weather... saying this I did not find this winter as bad as previous winters? although the cold weather held out longer! I didn't get my boxes up until end of March, and keeping plumheads I was concerned this would be too late (although now they are on 4 lovely babies out of 6 eggs) same for my crimson bellied conures, their box went up the same time and they are on 3 babies (they laid 7 eggs!!!) but they went down 6 weeks later than they did previous year. The mixed aviary also have their boxes up. Tiels went down fine, even the new pair of linnies are on eggs... but strangley the zebbies.. NOTHING! which is weird as they are worse than rabbits! LOL!! I do hope your breedings pick up and hopefully 2014 will be a better year? sometimes we just have a bad string of breedings I guess??!
  9. Thanks Huni x x yeah the colour is amazing in the wings! Fingers crossed eh!!!! :)

  11. Basically I have always had an interest in photography but while doing my BA in animation, lots of work experience, getting a mortgage, marriage then a baby.. Ive kinda been a busy bee! And then of course 2007 Gordon comes along! then Pancake in 2009! I recently got my mits on a photobox (a good friend donated to me ) and last Christmas a good DSLR Camera! Im now on my way to follow a dream of being a photographer of caged and aviary birds Id also like to get into wildlife photography but that's a whole different ball game, plus need to save the pennies for a lense! anyway here are a few snap! Im on photoshoot number 7 (that was the mountain parakeets) still very much a beginner as only been doing it just over a week now but boy I love it! andgot me thinking! I would LOVE to be a photogrpapher of birds for magazines, societys newspapers etc etc maybe even taking pics of breeders birds for their websites etc etc!!! I know its a very long shot but just wondering if anyone here knows where on earth I start!! Ive emailed parrot mag and porrot society but not heared back (I did only send them Saturday though and understand they are busy bees!) maybe I will hear something next few days mountain parakeets http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00mountainparakeethen_zps02913a15.jpg[/img] http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00mountainparakeetcock_zps9cd2a3e5.jpg[/img] http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00mountains06_zps0468f863.jpg[/img] Differen species of male parrotlets http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00boys02copy_zps6f93c54b.jpg[/img] http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00boys05copy_zps3667c9a6.jpg[/img] and then females http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00Girls0copy_zpscacc70bb.jpg[/img] http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/hayleycbaker/00girls05copy_zps02dce193.jpg[/img]
