  1. Hi guys. I don't post a lot here but read just about every post you all make on here. I have a problem with my umbrella cockatoo Chico. It's been going on for about 4-5 months now. I would say that i'm the one he/she's bonded with in our family. He can show agressive behaviour when he's out if someone he doesn't like comes near. As a result i've been taking him out when nobody else is around obviously as we have little kids and i don't want any accidents. Cockatoo bites is not a joke. Now. The problem is that when i get him out it only takes him a minute or two to start wanting to "mate" with my hands. He has not been sexed so i don't really know if it's a he or a she but we've been calling it "him" ever since we got him. We are not his first "slaves". He was given back to his breeder after his owner died and we then got him. He is a very loving bird to me and i would like to keep it that way. But the mating rituals (if that's what it is) really puts a dampener on his "out time" as after a few minutes it's all he's interested in. I have purposely not been stroking him under his wings since i read on here a while back that it was not a good thing to do. This behaviour has started happening after i stopped this. Any suggestions as to what i can do to make him realise that i'm not a female cockatoo and he really can't get babies from my hands? Regards, Tim
  2. Yes he's took a few chunks out of my hands
  3. Mine don't like gloves either. I've tried placing the gloves where they can see them. I've tried wearing the gloves when i clean out their cages and when i'm just pottering around near their cages. In the end i gave in and had to brave the cockatoo with bare hands or a towel. I have the battle scars to prove it too I guess some birds just don't like gloves. I don't know what it is about them. The colour maybe?

You know the little grunt and whine a puppy does when it gets excited and wants to play? My grey does that if i get close to the cage and she really really really wants to get out and play with me. No idea where she heard that because we never had a puppy here with her. She also quacks like a duck. No idea about that one either. Maybe the TV?
  5. Thanks. Wasn't sure what it was Glad to see it's working.
  6. What hand drop thing? I'm a bit clueless lol
  7. If they have updated their java scrips you would probably need to download the new java engine for the uploader to work. Edit: Found on their help section: Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder and have the most current versions of java and Adobe Flash installed on your computer. You must also be using a web browser that has javascript/activescript enabled. So your problem is most likely java or flash Java is here: http://jdl.sun.com/webapps/getjava/BrowserRedirect?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80 Flash player is here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
  8. What a lovely too My too only screams if he can hear me but not see me. He stops once i've been in and said hello to him and told him that he can come out in a minute I love how cuddly they are. When i take mine to bed with me he crawls under the quilt and goes to sleep cuddled up to me lol
