  1. I was told a company has ceased trading or an import problem? and I dont think it will be available much longer in the UK, I checked Rob Harvey but they are out of stock now too, I think we will change the brand as its a mare to keep chasing it. If anyone knows the issue would be good to know.
  2. Hello Just wondering if anyone knows if you can get hand rearing formula in stores, we normally buy it online but it works out expensive with postage and wondered if there are any stores that stock formulas, also there is an issue with the kaytee mix for Macaws thanks Amanda
  3. Yes definately over the moon its great to get up in the morning and see him perched there, he seems to be cheering up today
  4. Yes we will be padlocking his door from now on. We have a good vet so will get him checked over he is very subdued but has had a stressful week.
  5. yes he was jumping up and down when we collected him, he is sleeping non stop but hopefully thats just because he had a stressful week and is sleeping to recover.
  6. so sorry to hear that we lost ours this week dont give it up it does take time for them to go to people when they are hungry, We got ours back yesterday and he was out for 7 days he finally went to people when he was hungry. We posted leaflets everywhere and did get many sightings but it takes a few days for it to get going, we also used pet hunters you do have to pay but they notify all the rescue centers, vets etc in your area, Ozzy was handed in to Kit Wilson and they had a pet hunter leaflet up on their board from pet hunters, so they knew he was ours they also looked in our local paper to find our contact details. Our rescue said if they had known at the beginning they could have bought their greys down to our area to call him. Dont give up it is hard, we were told they normally stay within 1 mile for the first month, we had nearly lost hope after getting up at 5am, searching non stop and coming home with nothing. Wishing you lots of luck x
  7. Thank you had hoped all week to reach that part of the forum
  8. Yes we would love to know what he got up to, he must have eaten otherwise I cant see he would have survived 7 days out there.
  9. Yipeee!!! Ozzy Is home was handed in to Kit Wilson yesterday morning and bought him home in the afternoon, he is a little skinny and eating non stop but pretty good considering his week alone, he was delighted to see us :-) He us very sleepy and has a few cuts but seems to be doing well. Kit wilson found us in the Friday-ad lost and found section, when she telephoned she said I think we have your baby here, we gave her the ring number and she phoned back and confirmed it was Ozzy. He flew to some people who were eating at their table to steal food, unfortunately they were scared of birds and the neighbour heard them jumping up and down, so went round ozzy flew straight to his shoulder, they then took him to Kit Wilson rescue. Of course we took them some flowers to say thank you. I feel he was on the verge of starvation when we collected him he screamed for food and keep chewing our fingers like they do when they are babies and being fed, we have given him some hand rearing food as well as seeds, fruit to build him back up. My son who let Ozzy out the cage has autism and found this week without him quite hard knowing it was him who let him go, so to see the smile on his face when Ozzy came home was wonderful. As you can tell we are so happy to have Ozzy home and it was wonderful this morning to get up and not be looking in the sky but there he is in his cage and we call Ozzy and finally get a response, having spoken to just about every tree in this area. All our hard work paid off
  10. Well we have had 3 sightings, one very near us the other 2 not far away and he was in their their front garden I assume looking for food I hope he isnt too hungry, of course everytime we get there he is gone naughty boy but I was delighted to know he is still alive and near us, just frustrated we want him home so much, tomorrow we are going out at 5am near where people have seen him, I went out yesterday at 5am and am sure I heard him but couldnt locate the direction it came from. Also its bank holiday so many people will be home rather than at work I hope this will increase the sightings.
  11. Whilst hunting for my own parrot I came accrose a found senegal in the East Kilbride Area and they are looking for the owners, described as very tame, hope this helps someone, dated 19th August Please see news link http://www.eastkilbridenews.co.uk/lanarkshire-news/local-news-lanarkshire/local-news-east-kilbride/2009/08/19/calderglen-zoo-appeal-for-owner-of-pet-parrot-68653-24473650/
  12. No sign of Ozzy so far, working very hard to find him, which does seem to make me feel a little better being proactive. I felt a bit down today when a rescue centre told me that if he is very tame and young someone will keep him, I really hope this does not happen, my son feels very guilty that he opened the cage and would love to ease his guilt and bring Ozzy home. Must keep positive though still relatively early days and word takes a while to spread.
  13. So sorry you have lost your lovely Skipper, we have lost our baby african grey too and know how hard it is for you. I hope this may help a little I spoke to an expert today and they told me a parrot can survive very well in the wild and also if they are hand tame hopefully they will come into someone local. I feel for you its awful every night we go to bed I think of our Ozzy out there on his own and hope that the next day is the day that brings some news.
  14. Thanks all for the nice comments, feel really miserable no sign of him anywhere, have done a leaflet drop this afternoon, my husband is out looking now and will go out again near sunset in the hope of hearing him. What are the chances he would remember his way back even if its just to a tree near our house
