  1. LOL@ Louise...Chikoo time!!! Was just havin' a look at your photobucket at Sindy and noticed you make cards as I do. Do I know you from CM&P forum? Ann
  2. Thanks for that Roz, Baxter really loves them so I'll carry on with them.I've also discovered that, like a lot of others here, Baxter prefers her veggies cooked better than raw so we're getting there with fruit and veg. Ann
  3. I'm sure that's what they're called. They're a fruit, look like a small potato. package says sugary tasting fruit. Baxter loves them!!! and she's a bit fussy still with fruit and veggies (except grapes and sweetcorn) but when I cut one of these up, she eats the lot. They're probably very sweet which is why she likes them. Anyone else give these to thier birds? Ann
  4. Jem, I know you've said it's being going on for a while but do you suppose that not having thier snuggle hut has made Max angrier? You did trash it after all LOL (sorry) No, seriously, I'm probably talking total rubbish but maybe he's not been sleeping properly without the snuggle hut and we all know what interrupted or poor quality sleep does!!! Just a thought. Really hope you get loveable Max back soon. Ann
  5. I've just read this thread from beginning to end and enjoyed every bit of it! I'm really pleased things seem to be working out for you and Jabber and you really seem to be committed to this lucky bird. How does you g/f feel now about Jabber? Well done on all of your achievements so far and I for one will be looking back regularly to get an update of the progress. Isn't it great to have a forum like this to ask all the questions you want, even if you think they might be stupid, they're not and there's always someone or two who can give you advice or point you in the right direction. Keep up all that good work Jabb3r Ann
  6. I mentioned some time ago that I was a bit concerned about Baxter's weight and after talking to Kleopatra at some length and following her advice, Baxter's weight hasn't changed and while she seems to be quite happy, I'd still like her to be a wee bit heavier. She doesn't really like peanut butter and anything I do try her with she'll only eat a tiny amount. She likes scrambled eggs but, again, only eats a little. I wondered if I should try her with a spoon again and would she take it,(she's six months old) would baby food be ok and what kind should I give her? TIA Ann
  7. Being complete novices, OH and I went for a baby Timneh and at this moment we have neither the space or the experience for another bird be they babies, re-homes, disabled whatever, but looking to the future when the girls are older or left home and me an' OH have all of this lovely four bedroomed semi all to ourselves (drool, drool!!)I have to say I would love to have an Amazon....or a Caique.....or a Sennie......or.... and if I still have the support of you guys on here I'd love to consider having a bird from any of the above circumstances. Ann
  8. Do you think they'll suit her? [/img]
  9. Baxter goes to sleep around 8.30ish and I uncover her at 7.15 and get her out for a while before getting the kids up for school. Yesterday OH went to work at 9.30 and I got up because she was yelling!! Ann
  10. We took Baxter to the vet on Thursday for a check up as we've had her for 6/7 weeks now and we wanted to be sure all was well. She's fit and well thankfully and the vet seemed very pleased with her especially since she was preening his beard and nicked his pen. My concern is that he weighed her and she weighs 270g which the et didn't remark on but I thought she should be a touch heavier than this, around 290-350g. Am I right and what can I feed to get her a little bit heavier? She's almost 6mths old and she does fly a lot which might make her lighter. Ann
  11. We had one here too, it'd been truckling through our garden most nights for about two years until about three months ago when we found it dead Ann
  12. How long do you cook for after soaking? I might give it a try at the weekend. Ann
  13. I got Baxter onto her tabletop playstand and bribed her with sunflower seeds (which she'll do anything for) I got hold of the feather in one hand, offered her the seeds in the other hand and, as she took the seed, pull firmly on the feather. She squawked a bit each time but the sunflower seeds are toooooooo much of a temptation!! Hope this helps. Ann

  15. Cheers Showgirl, I didn't take her to the vet 'cos it wasn't bothering her and it's not red or nasty looking or anything and she's not bothered about it. MMM ta for that handy hint. I'll remember that for the next time. My mate said soak a cotton wool ball in vodka and the little wotsits get p***ed and fall off!!!!Errrmmmmm, don't think so......waste of good voddy!!!LOL Ann
