  1. I have read and re-read your post. I see my name and known facts in regard to Soft Landing so no secrets or anything hidden there. As far as I was aware I am admin on no facebook page other than my own and have never removed anyone looking for help or support. I don't usually frequent PL other than when someone points out a mater of interest. If there are questions then please go ahead and ask me. Please don't lump me with a whole load of other rantings. What I will tell you for free is that I have run a successful rescue/rehabilitation for 28 years. Untill a few years ago none of you probably new I existed. I refuse to be involved in whitch hunts and work to my own standard which always means putting bird welfare first and intend to continue doing so until I am too old to be of help. My last point would be to say I am who I am not whom I know and everyone has the choice of likeing or disliking nothing is compulsary.
  2. Roadrash, w Roadrash, whilst I thank you for your empathy I can assure you it is not nessesary. The only reason I have been the spokesperson so far is because I am the founder and it seem prudent at the time. From now on I will speak only on what I know to be fact and not heresy or speculation as in my opinion that is exactly what a large portion of current discussion are based on. If Debbie had a historical association/friendship with June Edwards then I must be the last to throw stones. I did too. As did many members and supporters here on PL. Does not mean that it holds good today. You have asked about the Quaker. This came from me. A sweet bird that needed a special home. I get regular feed back and it has settled well. The Kestrel has not gone anywhere. It’s rehabilitation was completed and again I have regular feed back. I will leave Debbie to answer the rest of your questions but I would like to give an opinion on one thing. It has been asked why she lied about Junes Birds. In hindsight she may do things different but with all screaming and shouting about June. Everyone had to be either for or against. 4 Birds needed a place to stay. I abhor lies but I think I may have, if I thought it the best way to keep a safe place for them. What would you have done and I mean the private answer not the public opinion one. Just a closing thought for you laceyloo. Debbie was a successful rescue for many years before she met as was I. We came together to hopefully cover a larger area and make a stronger unity to help birds more effectively. She never NEEDED ME no more than I need her. hilst I thank you for your empathy I can assure you it is not nessesary. 3. The birds were returned on legal grounds. Also please try to keep in mind that although you may have know what was about to errupt not everyone did. I respect your opinions and if you are being judgemental I personally am not offended, I however usually find a small step back takes in a bigger picture and better aids the truth. I said if I could answer any questions asked I would do so to the best of my ability. It is my hope that you or someone will get to the bottom of the whole story. It's my further hope that this will stop being trails by public domain as I feel far more people would come forward if they were not afraid of the possible outome for them on a personal level.
  4. Caron-j just to clarify, threats were not made about any previous birds only the four Macaws. I so agree that Toby looked so happy. It took a few days to settle him in but I do think he would have had many more happy and content days had he stayed where he was. Whatever anyone else's opinion I have to say my heart goes out to Debbie (Greysroost) in an effort to not bring problems to Soft Landing she took what she thought was the best root to best serve all including the birds. In trying to stay impartial she has been labelled a June follower. All I ask on her behalf is dig a bit deeper to find the real Debbie. I did, I spent months looking and asking before joining forces. You may have a pleasant surprise.
  5. Verity you are right on the face of it. I only visited a couple of times. When I did the birdroom I saw was clean, the utility was stacked with fruit and veg and multiple sacks of tidy mix were there. The birds interacted very willingly with June. Yes there were disabled birds and I am as guilty as the next for accepting the case histories. The last visit I paid an RSPCA van was on the drive and the officer was having coffee. Any misgivings I had at the time I walked away believing it was more than likely a personality clash. All I did at that time was make sure the 2 parrotcare birds were signed over as they were staying come hell or high water. Yet strangley they were handed over with ease on the basis that I could better cater to their speial needs.
  6. I had never intended to get involved in any discussions but explaination have been asked for so I feel it only right to offer as best I can so Timnah it looks like hell may just have melted, as your questions will be answered if possible. In hindsight maybe things should have been handled differently, but they weren’t and each person involved must live with their own demons. Debbie (Greysroost) and I have been working in co-operation for some months so am privy to most facts I believe. The 4 Macaws in question were indeed placed with Debbie for safe keeping on a short-term boarding. Yes we were both aware that there was a hue and cry going on about June Edwards. To the best of my knowledge this has be the case for many years, so what was new? I disassociated myself from her back in 2009 and Debbie had only ever met her once. Debbie did try very hard to not return the Macaws but the threat’s of legal action etc meant the choice was taken out of her hands, it near broke her heart. What I can confirms is the birds were returned to a clean home, cages and bountiful supply of food. Our joining forces to work as one had no bearing on anything as there would be no point if we were not equally supportive of each other. Both of us have historically taken in Parrotcare birds and would again if it were in the interest of the birds. More than this I don’t think either of us can answer. Like every one else we hear the whispers, have drawn conclusion and are going around the same circles as everyone else. What we will not do is join any camp be is pro or against. What we will do is fight against cruelty when we can and provide solace anyway we can.
  7. Thank you so much for your offer, but I am told Bath is to far to come.
  8. Hi Marion. Not bad all things considered. Had a rough year with health but then don't we all. Hope things are good at your place.
  9. Can anyone recommend a reliable company. I need to move some rescue birds from the Devon area up to the Midlands ASAP. Thank you.
  10. Thank you all so very much. Very quiet but still very much here.
  11. I had almost identical sympton with a patagonian many years with an Avian close at hand. Treatment was exactly what you are doing as no none diagnosis was possible. She recovered more or less 90% and lived on another 4 years. A second episode cost her life. I had to know why and so had a PM. It was revealed she had a small tumour on the spine at the base of the skull which caused pressure. Nothing could have been done and no time limit based on care. Good luck with your Amazon. I know it's in the best of care.
  12. African Grey mimicing the Amazons for sure
  13. Just happen to have been in a similar situation. My Kaiser who is 10 CAG and raised by me suddenly went from my honey who would ay on her back and snooze to the bird from hell. Tried every trick I could think of with only 2 stitches and some really nasty bites to show for all my effort. I gave up. She loved my partner so I accepted and backed off. Then I started to think about bird mentality. I had created a game, a challenge a divertion for the day. So I changed tactics. I ignored her. Never fed her, cleaned her out or even looked in her direction. Then I added insult to injury. I placed a chair with my back to the cage/play area and just read a book and chilled. After about 3 weeks she came down close for a look. I got a couple of nips on my back so I added a fleece. Slowly she was pushing me for attention. I allowed her to rip at my newspaper and begin to interact. Its taken a good couple of months, but she is back and begining to cuddle again. very much on her terms but thats ok. All I have is time. I don't know if this will help you.
  14. Kaiser-Jill, because nursing her as a desperatley ill chick who was not expected to make it she popped her head out the box to the sound of Whstling Jacks tune of Kaiser bills batman. Bill became jill when we new better. More than 10nyears later she dances to that tune.
  15. A loss is never easy. Babe had only the best of the best whilst on loan to you. Find the joy if you can in a family reunited, especially for christmas
