Psittocosis in humans is extremely rare, usually only very old or very young people could catch it. Pigeons rather than parrots are the usual cause of passing this disease to humans

Pigeons are the most frequently to 'blame' ... for example - there are instances of older people getting flu like symptoms after visiting Trafalgar Square and other places with pigeons, as just inhaling the stirred up dust from the poo can be enough, contact doesn't have to happen.
